Do you ever go on holiday, do a load of research on things to do and then suddenly realise that you've only got a couple of days left and spent most of the trip lying in the sun doing nothing much at all? Well that's exactly what I've done in Lanzarote and I have absolutely no regrets at all - I loved my week of relaxation! But there was a lot I wanted to see, so I decided to plan an ultimate Lanzarote road to see as much as possible in one day.
Santa’s Coming: What to Expect at Santa Pauli, Hamburg’s Kinky Christmas Market

Santa’s Coming: What to Expect at Santa Pauli, Hamburg’s Kinky …

Hamburg
It's no surprise that Germany is home to fabulous Christmas markets - they originated there after all! Whereas as most UK cities have just one Christmas market (often selling exactly the same thing in every city), many German cities have multiple markets. This is particularly true of Hamburg, where markets aren't the only thing happening in multiples. This December I took my mum on a girlie weekend to explore Hamburg's Christmas markets, in particular the Santa Pauli market A.K.A. Hamburg's kinky Christmas market. From willy trees to stripping Santa's, here's what to expect at Hamburg's kinky Christmas market.

Hi, I'm Nell. I’m a Leeds based travel blogger creating content to inspire you to make the most of your weekends, limited annual leave and hard-earned cash by writing about part-time, mid-budget travel. Here you'll find posts about city breaks, hiking trips and tales of food and wine.

Istanbul to Venice By Train & Bus – A 17 Day Itinerary

Istanbul to Venice By Train & Bus – A 17 Day Itinerary

Balkans
If, like me, you have an endless list of places that you want to visit but don’t fancy travelling long term and can’t take every other week off work, this itinerary is for you! I visited 6 countries in 17 days and managed to not feel rushed, tired or burnt out - although I did have to have a couple of early nights towards the end of the trip. It took a fair amount of planning but it all paid off and it didn’t cost the earth either. Starting in Istanbul, my boyfriend Billy and I headed across the Balkans and into Italy before flying back home.
Finding the Best Cicchetti in Venice

Finding the Best Cicchetti in Venice

Venice
What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Venice? If you'd asked me that before I visited I'd have probably said 'bridges', 'canals', 'Bellini' or 'St Mark's Square'. Now that I've returned, the one word that sums up Venice or me is most definitely 'cicchetti'. You might not be familiar with cicchetti (I wasn't until I found myself eating it) so let me tell you all about it and where you can find the best cicchetti in Venice.
Leeds Food Tours: What to Do in Leeds For Foodies

Leeds Food Tours: What to Do in Leeds For Foodies

Leeds
This is a very exciting blog post for me, because I'm introducing my very own business - Leeds Food Tours! Who'd have thought that I'd be an actual business owner? If you follow me on instagram, you'll probably be well aware of Leeds Food Tours already, but if you've found this post because you're wondering what to do in Leeds, then let me tell you all about it!
Falling in Love With Venice: Travel Tips for Visiting Venice

Falling in Love With Venice: Travel Tips for Visiting Venice

Venice
Opinions on Venice seem to be pretty mixed. Some people are charmed by it’s romantic canals and inspired by it’s grand architecture, whilst others find it overcrowded and overpriced. Venice had always been on my bucket list, but I'd also heard negative things about it, so I was quite nervous about visiting incase I disliked the place that was so perfect in my head! Would the tens of thousands of tourists cramming onto bridges to take selfies and the extortionate price of a coffee in St Marks’ square make me hate Venice?
How to Spend 24 Hours in Ljubljana if You Love Food and Wine

How to Spend 24 Hours in Ljubljana if You Love Food and Wine

Ljubljana
Despite being more excited about Ljubljana than any other city on my Balkan trip, I ended up with just one full day there. This meant that I had to spend my 24 hours in Ljubljana wisely, which meant getting through a lot of food and wine! Here's what I got up to, hopefully inspiring you to visit Ljubljana and giving you some ideas of what to do whilst there.
Why Kamnik is the Perfect Base to Explore Ljubljana and Velika Planina

Why Kamnik is the Perfect Base to Explore Ljubljana and Velika Planina

Slovenia
I'd not actually heard of Kamnik before, but when the Ljubljana tourism board offered me an overnight stay in Kamnik and cable car tickets to visit Velika planina, I discovered that these were places that I didn't know I was desperate to visit! Furthermore, I found that Kamnik was the perfect base to explore not only Velika planina but also Ljubljana, offering a much quieter spot just 30-40 minutes away from the city.

Hands up if you constantly crave a weekend away but have neither the time nor the money?! Well this is where the day trip comes into it's own. Just head over to a new city bright and early, spend the day exploring the tourist attractions, stop for a long lunch and a glass of wine or two, and get to know the city's personality in just a few hours. This weekend I did exactly that, with a day trip to Liverpool with National Express. Let me tell you a little about my experience with National Express, before giving you a few ideas of what to do if you're taking a trip to Liverpool.
A Glamping Paradise on a Vineyard in Slovenia

A Glamping Paradise on a Vineyard in Slovenia

Maribor
Whilst travelling through the Balkans I stayed in a range of accommodation types from AirBnb apartments to hotels to hostels. We mainly chose where to stay based on our budget - even the more luxurious AirBnBs were significantly cheaper than staying in a hotel or even a hostel in many cases. Everywhere we stayed was lovely, but nothing compared to one particular night of pure luxury... glamping at Chateau Ramsak. This place is absolutely incredible and was a true highlight of our trip (particularly the breakfast), so read on and let me tell you all about it.
The Swankiest Hostel in Zagreb? A Review of Swanky Mint Hostel

The Swankiest Hostel in Zagreb? A Review of Swanky Mint Hostel

Zagreb
I'm going to start this blog post by admitting that I'm not really a hostel traveller. I like my own space and I mostly stay in AirBnbs, with a few hotels thrown in to the mix as well. Oh and the odd mountain hut if I'm hiking! However, I was travelling through the Balkans with a backpack and as a result I felt compelled to give the hostel thing a go. So let me introduce to Swanky Mint Hostel.
