Why You Should Visit Belgrade, An Utterly Underrated Travel Destination

Why You Should Visit Belgrade, An Utterly Underrated Travel Destination

Belgrade
As lockdown restrictions start to lift, travel is back on my mind, and the other day I found myself thinking "if I were to book a last minute weekend away to a city I've already been to, where would I go?". One place instantly popped into my mind, and kind of surprised me - I'd visit Belgrade! So, let me tell you why you should visit Belgrade for you next city break, before sharing my favourite places to visit on both sides of Belgrade, and of course some recommendations for places to eat and drink!
Discovering Traditional Bulgarian Food in Sofia

Discovering Traditional Bulgarian Food in Sofia

Sofia
Did you know that you can take a free food tour in Sofia? Food tours are a great way to quickly get to know a place through traditional cuisine, and they're even better when they don't cost you anything. With just a couple of days to spend in Sofia, the tour gave me an insight into both modern and traditional Bulgarian in Sofia, which I then went on to supplement with my own foodie discoveries.

Hi, I'm Nell. I’m a Leeds based travel blogger creating content to inspire you to make the most of your weekends, limited annual leave and hard-earned cash by writing about part-time, mid-budget travel. Here you'll find posts about city breaks, hiking trips and tales of food and wine.

Things to Do in Wroclaw: A Weekend in the City of Dwarfs

Things to Do in Wroclaw: A Weekend in the City of Dwarfs

Wroclaw
Wroclaw is one of the most beautiful places that I've visited and the perfect place to visit for a weekend. You can explore on foot: wandering through the Old Town, island hopping (kind of) and stopping for plenty of pierogi. Most of my weekend in Wroclaw was spent eating, but I did have time for sightseeing too. Here are the best things to do in Wroclaw, and why it's the city of dwarfs!
The Best Bars in Wroclaw for Wine and Craft Beer

The Best Bars in Wroclaw for Wine and Craft Beer

Wroclaw
Wroclaw is a fantastic destination for explorers, foodies and those fancying a relaxed, boozy weekend in Poland. I recently spent a couple of days there, exploring the city on foot, eating many, many pierogi and drinking far more than was sensible for riding e-scooters afterwards! As a result, we 'researched' several wine and craft beer bars over the weekend. Here are my tops picks for the best bars in Wroclaw for wine and craft beer.
A Guide to The Best Restaurants in Wroclaw

A Guide to The Best Restaurants in Wroclaw

Wroclaw
I'm getting a little obsessed with Poland! This may have only been my fourth trip, but I'm falling more in love with the country every time I visit and I can't wait to return. The colourful rows of buildings, the cute Old Town centres, the friendly locals, the hearty comfort food and the cheap drinks make it the perfect destination in my eyes. My most recent trip took me to beautiful Wroclaw, where I spent the weekend non-stop eating and drinking. Based on my experience, here are the best restaurants in Wroclaw - mostly focused on the best pierogi!

Do you ever go on holiday, do a load of research on things to do and then suddenly realise that you've only got a couple of days left and spent most of the trip lying in the sun doing nothing much at all? Well that's exactly what I've done in Lanzarote and I have absolutely no regrets at all - I loved my week of relaxation! But there was a lot I wanted to see, so I decided to plan an ultimate Lanzarote road to see as much as possible in one day.
Santa’s Coming: What to Expect at Santa Pauli, Hamburg’s Kinky Christmas Market

Santa’s Coming: What to Expect at Santa Pauli, Hamburg’s Kinky …

Hamburg
It's no surprise that Germany is home to fabulous Christmas markets - they originated there after all! Whereas as most UK cities have just one Christmas market (often selling exactly the same thing in every city), many German cities have multiple markets. This is particularly true of Hamburg, where markets aren't the only thing happening in multiples. This December I took my mum on a girlie weekend to explore Hamburg's Christmas markets, in particular the Santa Pauli market A.K.A. Hamburg's kinky Christmas market. From willy trees to stripping Santa's, here's what to expect at Hamburg's kinky Christmas market.
Finding the Best Cicchetti in Venice

Finding the Best Cicchetti in Venice

Venice
What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Venice? If you'd asked me that before I visited I'd have probably said 'bridges', 'canals', 'Bellini' or 'St Mark's Square'. Now that I've returned, the one word that sums up Venice or me is most definitely 'cicchetti'. You might not be familiar with cicchetti (I wasn't until I found myself eating it) so let me tell you all about it and where you can find the best cicchetti in Venice.
Falling in Love With Venice: Travel Tips for Visiting Venice

Falling in Love With Venice: Travel Tips for Visiting Venice

Venice
Opinions on Venice seem to be pretty mixed. Some people are charmed by it’s romantic canals and inspired by it’s grand architecture, whilst others find it overcrowded and overpriced. Venice had always been on my bucket list, but I'd also heard negative things about it, so I was quite nervous about visiting incase I disliked the place that was so perfect in my head! Would the tens of thousands of tourists cramming onto bridges to take selfies and the extortionate price of a coffee in St Marks’ square make me hate Venice?
How to Spend 24 Hours in Ljubljana if You Love Food and Wine

How to Spend 24 Hours in Ljubljana if You Love Food and Wine

Ljubljana
Despite being more excited about Ljubljana than any other city on my Balkan trip, I ended up with just one full day there. This meant that I had to spend my 24 hours in Ljubljana wisely, which meant getting through a lot of food and wine! Here's what I got up to, hopefully inspiring you to visit Ljubljana and giving you some ideas of what to do whilst there.
Why Kamnik is the Perfect Base to Explore Ljubljana and Velika Planina

Why Kamnik is the Perfect Base to Explore Ljubljana and Velika Planina

Slovenia
I'd not actually heard of Kamnik before, but when the Ljubljana tourism board offered me an overnight stay in Kamnik and cable car tickets to visit Velika planina, I discovered that these were places that I didn't know I was desperate to visit! Furthermore, I found that Kamnik was the perfect base to explore not only Velika planina but also Ljubljana, offering a much quieter spot just 30-40 minutes away from the city.
