What to Expect From This Blog

Hi, I’m Nell, a Leeds based travel blogger. I’m here to create content with the aim of inspiring busy, young professionals to make the most of their weekends, limited annual leave and hard-earned cash.

On this blog you’ll find travel inspiration and destination guides based on my own experiences of part-time, mid-budget travel. You’ll mostly discover content on European city breaks here, with a focus on eating, drinking and having fun, and I hope that you’ll discover places that you hadn’t considered visiting before.

Click on the links below to get started on some of my favourite European cities, read this post about my top 15 destinations for a cheap European city break or keep scrolling to find out a little more about me!

A Little More About Me…

My Travel Style

I prefer to travel little and often, as you’ve probably noticed from the introduction above! This means that my content is well suited to those in full-time work, who are more likely to be looking for long weekends rather than month-long backpacking trips.

I’m all about the food (and the wine)! I love to experience a destination through food and drink. It’s helps me to understand the culture, promote sustainable tourism by eating and drinking at small restaurants who make the most of local ingredients, and provides an opportunity to engage with the locals and other travellers. Understanding culinary traditions and the stories behind them is my favourite part of travelling!

I’m not much of a planner. I usually arrive somewhere with a few notes on my phone about restaurants and top line things to do, but I prefer to simply wander and discover my own version of a place. I have been known to book a spontaneous trip just days before travelling when I’ve had annual leave to use up, and I LOVE being whisked away on a surprise trip for my birthday.

I like variety. There are lots of city breaks on this blog, but you’ll also find guides to more rural places nearby cities such as Kamnik, near Ljubljana. I also love to hike, and I take an annual trip with my Dad where we’ll enjoy a long-distance walk such as the GR20, Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn or the Spaghetti Tour. Writing about these trips is very close to my heart because it’s a special time spent with my Dad, who is my absolute hero.

When I’m Not Travelling

Although this is a travel blog, I’m actually quite the home bird! Maybe that’s why I like to travel little and often. When I’m not scrolling through Skyscanner to discover my next cheap weekend away or saving up for a new pair of walking boots, you’ll find me watching Netflix or reading a book on my sofa, or exploring my home city, Leeds.

I’m passionate about supporting independent businesses, so I’ll likely be shopping in Leeds Kirkgate Market or enjoying a meal (usually sushi) in one of the city’s incredible independent restaurants. In fact, I love Leeds’ independent food & drink scene so much that I’ve built a business around it: Leeds Food Tours.
